News: 50 Years Later, Dabble Materializes into a Scrabble Friendly Word Game App for iPhone
He may be the oldest person to have invented an app for Apple devices, but 84-year-old George Weiss didn't originally intend on marketing his Dabble word game to the mobile crowd. He first came up Dabble back in 1958 when he was just 31. “A lot has changed since 1958, but people still love a good game,” said Weiss on his introduction into the iTunes App Store last month.

Scrabble Challenge #5: Put Your 2-Letter Word Skills to the Test
Two-letter words are one of the most important parts of playing Scrabble. If you don't know all of the small ones, then you're missing out on one of the easiest ways to score big. Check out How to Score Big with 2-Letter Words in Scrabble and memorize all that you can. Definitions are optional, but you won't need them for this challenge.
Scrabble Challenge #4: How Fast Are You at Building Words? Find Out…
A recent study in Canada concluded that competitive Scrabble players are twenty percent faster than non-Scrabble players at identifying real words on a Scrabble rack. In light of this news, this week's challenge is actually just a game of Scrabble Sprint from Pogo.com.
News Alert: Scrabble Makes You Smarter
Listen up Scrabblers... you finally have something to brag about besides knowing what MUZJIK is, and if you think it's elevator music, put those tiles back in the bag and pack up your Scrabble board because this doesn't apply to you.
News: Mother Goes to Jail for Starving Her Baby (While Playing Scrabble)
This isn't your ordinary Scrabble fiend, but relax... Scrabble was not the reason behind the death of this Pennsylvania woman's baby. But nonetheless, it's a horrible story of parents who'd rather neglect their own flesh and blood, rather than their pets.
News: Anne Hathaway Is a Scrabble Fiend
Anne Hathaway appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to promote her new movie, One Day. But before that, she proclaimed herself a Scrabble fiend. She likes to play the board game with family and friends, as well as local play on the iPhone and solo play against her computer. And Jon reveals his son's strategy for using "Best Word" on EA's Scrabble version (something I'm not to keen on)...
Scrabble Challenge #3: Can You Find the Game Killing Triple-Triple?
There are two types of Scrabble players in the world—those who enjoy it and those who love it. I definitely fall into the latter category. Unfortunately, most of my friends don't. I'm lucky to have a few who simply enjoy it from time to time—some are even standing on the edge of Scrabble geekdom, afraid to take that last step. Maybe someday.

News: NFC-Equipped Sifteo Cubes One Up Hasbro's Scrabble Flash Word Game (But Costs 5X More)
Last year, Hasbro unveiled Scrabble Flash, an electronic version of the popular word game which consists of five SmartLink letter tiles that can communicate with one another using near field communication (NFC) to spell and score words. It's an interesting (and fun) way to build your Scrabble vocabulary for words ranging from two to five letters, but that's about it.
Scrabble Challenge #2: Can You Find the Highest Scoring Move?
Get ready to rack your brains, because it's time for another Scrabble Challenge! I may have gone a little overboard on last week's challenge (there was over 25 anagrams to solve), so I'm slimming things down this week. This time, there's only one puzzle.

Scrabble Challenge #1.5: I-35W Bridge Memorial Struck by 'Puzzling' Alphabet Thief?

Scrabble Challenge #1: Double Bingos, Trivia and Common Letter Groupings
To make things a little more fun here on Scrabble World, I've decided to start a weekly feature for word freaks to ponder about it... a challenge. No, I'm not 'challenging' any of your words... I'm challenging your brains. See if you can figure some of these Scrabble puzzles out. You can print this page or hand write the questions out to play at home (or wherever).
News: Nefertiti Scrabble
This Blender graphic shows my idea of an Egyptian style Scrabble board, inspired by the ancient board game Senet. It features the Nefertiti (Latin) font, so you don't have to read hieroglyphs to make words. The white hieroglyphs on the black granite tiles was inspired by inscriptions on Egyptian statuary of the same material.
News: Scrabble Finally Hits Android Devices... But Does It Beat Words with Friends?
Three years ago, Scrabble was one of the very first 500 mobile applications to appear on the new iTunes App Store, allowing iPhone users the chance to kill their Scrabble cravings on the go. It was a smart move for Hasbro and Electronic Arts (EA), but it's been two years and eight months since the Android Market opened for business, and they've just now released an official app for Android smartphones—Scrabble Free.
News: Scrabble and Graffiti Join Forces for the Perfect Marriage Proposal
SCRABBLE: 14 points; GRAFFITI: 15 points; MARRIAGE: 11 points; YES: 6 points. When playing a game of Scrabble, those are the minimal amount of points for each of the given words (not including blank tiles). But for 28-year-old Jeff Gurwin, it's more than just 46 points on the board, it's a lifetime of happiness.
News: What Does Presidential Candidate Tim Pawlenty Have to Do with Scrabble?
I'm not much for politics, but I do like to keep tabs on our elected government officials from time to time, since I am a registered voter and believe that every one should vote (unless they're just voting to say they voted). This pretty much means I pay attention to my local and state officials, the presidential candidates, and of course, any political scandal that makes me chuckle.

Turning Letters into Pesticide: Killing Mechanical Bugs in Clockwords, Act 1
I love SCRABBLE, but sometimes it's hard to find an opponent who'll play a classic, tournament style game in person. Don't get me wrong—I play on the computer and iPhone all of the time, but it's just not the same as an in-person match. This leads me to stray every now and then, checking out new word-friendly games with a fast pace and interesting twist. And the most recent one was nothing like SCRABBLE, and I don't mean that in a bad way.
